State AED Laws
Florida
Florida AED law states that AED users are encouraged to obtain training and register with local EMS. Business entities are encouraged to obtain an AED, but there is no requirement to do so. AEDs are required in certain public high schools, and all employees or volunteers who are reasonably expected to use the AED must be trained in CPR/AED. Each such AED must be registered with a local EMS provider.
Georgia
Georgia State AED Law states that AED acquirers are responsible for ensuring expected users are trained in CPR/AED and must notify EMS of the AED's location and type.Medical oversight by a licensed physician is required to ensure proper training, EMS notification, and AED maintenance. The AED must be maintained and tested according to the manufacturer's operational guidelines.
North Carolina
North Carolina State AED law requires that the seller of an AED shall notify the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health Service Regulation, Office of Emergency Medical Services of the existence, location, and type of AED.
South Carolina
South Carolina State AED Law requires each school district to place an AED in every high school and implement an automated external defibrillator program compliant with state law.
